Are your children heading to University after the summer holidays? If so The Times are running a great series on #startinguniversity at the moment which is full of expert advice and information. Dr Alison McClymont contributed to this piece with @thetimes yesterday which is available online now.
The below is a quote from Dr Alison about this subject:
“The important thing to remember in all these waves of change is that “attachment” is not dependence. When Bowlby came up with the seminal theory of “attachment” (that an infants early attachment pattern to a primary carer will be a blueprint for later relationships) he was reminding us that attachment is born in youth and follows us until adulthood. The ties that bind were made in all those days you are feeling the loss for, you do not break an attachment bond simply through distance- it is a deep psychological process that transcends time and distance.”
Pop superstar Billie Eilish opened up about her struggles with Tourette’s Syndrome when speaking on David Letterman’s My Next Guest show on Netflix. The 20-year-old experienced an on-camera tic and explained “If you film me for long enough, you’re going to see lots of tics,”.
Billie said during the interview that she doesn’t experience tics while performing and that some specific tics have gone away over time, but others still occur on a regular basis. “These are things you would never notice if you’re just having a conversation with me,” she says, adding, “but for me, they’re very exhausting.” Dr Alison McClymont spoke to @hungermagazine about #tourettes and #treatmentoptions head over to the site to read the full article #expertcomment
